How to Launch a Points-Based Loyalty Program in 5 Steps

Starting a points program sounds complicated, but with the right sequence of steps it can be ready within a week.

1. Set your conversion rate

How many euros equal one point? The simplest approach is 1 point per euro, but you can adjust it based on your profit margin.

2. Choose the target reward

A free product, a discount, or something more impressive? The reward needs to be attractive enough to be worth the effort, but not so expensive that it eats your margin.

3. Set the redemption threshold

Too high a threshold discourages customers; too low cuts into your margin. In 4Loyalty you can change the target at any time and test what works best.

4. Pick the platform

You need something the customer installs once and that connects automatically on every visit — not a separate app per store. 4Rewards works exactly like that: one app, every loyalty program in it.

5. Announce it at the register

Your staff is the most important promotion channel in the first weeks. A simple line at checkout ("want to start collecting points?") makes the difference between slow and fast adoption.

Once the program has been running for a few weeks, measure the actual ROI to see if it needs adjusting.
